Adele's incredible beauty is still alive and with us.

Gustave Klimt painted Adele in 1907 years before her portrait was stolen by the Nazis from their incredible apartment in Berlin in 1941. it was centre stage in the great living room with incredible decor and high ceilings. Klimt used a lot of texture and embellishment so the paintings he did glowed with gold and silvers in his art nouveau style of working doing small daubs of texture and beautiful metallics to build up the layers.

The painting was stolen by the Germans and then stayed in a museum in Vienna who refused to give it back and it was this battle to get it back into the family's ownership again by one of Adeles future family members in the 1990s -portrayed so beautifully in a film by Helen Mirren.
I have seen it myself in Vienna and it is so dazzling ....with the gold work and other colours and the soft way of portraying her beauty and big eyes and face that haunt you.
