THE HAUNTINGLY BEAUTIFUL AND ATMOSPHERIC DINGLE COAST

The Dingle Peninsula has a wild rugged coastline jutting out into the Atlantic - ringed by sandy beaches and craggy cliffs. A wild dramatic landscape make it a magical place of stunning beauty and is a tourist heaven in the summer for walking, exploring and mountain climbing. It runs westward for 50 kilometres from the gradual landscape of Tralee to the western end where the landscape is known as the Wild Atlantic Way. Erosion and the harsh weather systems have created a visual paradise.

I wanted to show the receding storm in a heavy atmospheric greys and cloudy whites over the more jagged parts of the coast covered by a huge variety of greens and oranges, rust browns and hints of yellows to best portray the flora and fauna.
I shade darker from each side to bring the eye of the viewer to the varying scene of sharp whites out of the moody greys and hints of yellow in the centre where the sun is trying to break through the clouds after a tempest over a deep aqua shallow sea.
