Cold icy worlds against a backdrop of texture and form. The Palace of Versailles and Nature mixed in one to create artworks of visual depth and beauty

I used the textures and patterns from the Salon Des Glaces in Versailles as an under layer. I took photos of them and over enlarged them as the beauty of the patterns of the rococco patterns and neo classic archictecture are such a symbol of human creative brilliance . This created an underlayer over which I could add my inks and resin, pigments and pastels work. Silver leaf and spray diluted the details of the Versailles underlayer giving just hints of fine details peeking out. The icy world of the Artic now began to form in these pieces.

Combining now the structured underlayer with Artic Ice patterns and inspiration from the North a series of 12 squares were created to work together ona wall but be completely contrasting. The movements of great ice sheets over rocks or water creates fissures, ridges and lines of uneven and jagged shapes in a range of blacks, greys, whites and silver. added to this is actual mineral powders, mica, diamond dust and chalk into the setting resin which has a spectacular effect
